The Volunteer Inn

The room was clean and well furnished, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. If we are down that way again we would consider staying there again. Nice vibe in the pub, looks like a good selection of drinks. We didn't eat or drink there though. The staff were very kind to let us check in so early.

The Volunteer is in an excellent position both for drivers and for those travelling by public transport. It’s just outside Grove on the main road from Wantage to Abingdon and Oxford and very close to the route to Didcot. The staff were superb, particularly a young woman called Vicky (I hope I have the correct name!) who welcomed me and was there one other evening. All other staff were just as friendly, accommodating but still professional, an excellent mix. I also had a superb quality shower and a generous sized en suite bathroom which was a pleasant surprise.

We chose The Volunteer purely for the location being opposite the venue for our meeting the next day. Staff were super friendly, parking easy and the rooms perfectly adequate for our stay. We didn't spend much time in the pub, so not tried the food and had to leave early before breakfast.

All in all our stay was fine. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Décor in room very tasteful and cleanliness faultless. Breakfast was one of the best we have had anywhere. Location for our venue could not have been better. Would recommend and definitely stay again. Well done.

Loved the owners! I felt like I met some new friends. I was made to feel so welcome and we had some great conversations. This was my favorite of the other two places in which I had stayed. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay! I felt sad when I left because you were so wonderful to me!
